DR ME - fabric and digital printing

The next step for us was to start printing our separate layers. We booked a print slot down in digital print, allowing us to put our design on fabric. We went with a cotton fabric, which was quite cheap, as it was suitable for the context. It wasn't too flimsy, but it wasn't too stiff and would therefore still have movement when hung. The colours came out extremely well, they were very vivid and bright, and looked really effective. We were extremely excited and happy with how well the collage printed, and we felt that it would be a great back drop for our block text.

We also had to book a print slot downstairs with James. We were very lucky that our acetate had arrived in time, as it was late being delivered. A test shot was done beforehand to make sure the ink came out ok on the acetate. This was all fine and we could begin printing our file.

The text came out just as we hoped, and we felt the size was perfect for layering on top of our pattern design. The type was big enough so that it was legible, but not too big that it would bring all focus on it. Our next steps are to layer the two materials together, to see how they work on top of each other. We will also have to consider how the pieces will be hung.
