CHAMPNEYS - creating the nets

Container sizes (height x width)

Moisturiser - 46mm x 110mm
Exfoliator - 66mm x 93mm
Body butter - 66mm x 93mm
Toning serum - 146.5mm x 47mm
Eye make up remover - 79mm x 37mm
Make up remover - 135mm x 43mm
Shaving foam - 146.5mm x 47mm
Face mask - 49mm x 93mm

For the nets I decided to add 15mm onto both the height and the width so that there was a comfortable amount of room for the product to sit within the packaging.

Net sizes

Moisturiser - 61mm x 125mm
Exfoliator - 81mm x 108mm
Body butter - 81mm x 108mm
Toning serum - 161.5mm x 62mm
Eye make up remover - 94mm x 52mm
Make up remover - 150mm x 58mm
Shaving foam - 161.5mm x 62mm
Face mask - 64mm x 108mm

Now that I had these measurements I could create the nets on illustrator. Our packaging will just be a standard box. We didn't want to create anything too complicated as we felt that although we wanted to reflect the quality of the brand, the products are targeted at a younger audience, being purchased in high street stores such as Boots, and therefore shouldn't have a high cost. Intricate packaging would add cost to the product. Our pattern is also quite full on and therefore would be more effective applied to a simpler packaging design.

The patterns were then applied to the two different range sectors, skin care and body care. This was done by creating a repeated pattern from the initial illustrations, making sure that there was no obvious pattern repeat. These were then defined as a pattern on illustration and the fill tool was used to add in the design.
