In order to start the development of my branding, picking a colour scheme seemed the most obvious place to start. As it is a fish and chip restaurant, I started to explore appropriate colours, including blues, greens and greys. I wanted to keep the palette limited as from my research a restricted number of colours seemed to be the most effective. I also want to work with illustration and therefore I don't want to overcomplicate things by creating something that is too busy and garish.
Palettes
I used Adobe Kuler in order to explore appropriate colours that related to the sea and that environment, whilst keeping in mind that it would be used within restaurant branding.
Colour Experiments
Using these colour schemes, I began to experiment with possible logo designs that could be used within the branding. I felt that this was the next necessary step that should be taken. I decided to try and link the H and R to create a more contemporary visual, whilst making sure it was still recognisable as Harry Ramsdens.
I felt that the second and last colour schemes were the most effective in terms of reflecting the content and creating a more fresh and contemporary brand visual. I wanted to make sure that I also took into consideration Harry Ramsdens connection with The Ritz, and their emulation of the brand. The second colour scheme was the most reflective of this.
The logo needs developed further as I feel that it is quite working in it's current state. I want to at least keep the existing 'H', and work it in around the new branding.
