CHAMPNEYS - soap prototypes/labels

Along with the rest of our products, we also decided that we would create a range of soaps. For this, we needed a new pattern that used the same elements as the previous two, as well as some wrap around labels.

We decided to take inspiration from the Underwearables collection by Spread Studio in terms of the use of pattern and minimal wrap around type.

I created a pattern that could be used and applied to the soap packaging using our existing designs. This was kept simple, bright and quirky in order to create an effective and continuous range of products that would work alongside each other as a set.

We purchased a range of soaps that we could use for our mock ups. By doing this, we were given the measurements and format that we needed to produce our labels etc. It also gave us the opportunity to look at existing soap packaging, which we felt was extremely clinical, minimal and not very inviting. We wanted to create something that appealed the customer as being something that they would want to use and have on display within their bathroom.

Using the soaps we purchased, we worked out some rough measurements, which could be finalised when creating the mock ups.

A range of three different types of soap were going to be included within the product range, therefore three labels needed to be designed - a cleansing soap, a moisturising soap and a facial soap all intended to target the specific younger audience.
