Business cards are evidently mandatory for a restaurant business. I wanted to incorporate both the illustrations and the logo so that the identity was consistent. The reverse needed to be limited to the most important information, including the address, phone number and website. By doing this, the front is able to reflect the brand, whilst the reverse does the important job of displaying the restaurant's details.
Landscape
First, I experimented with a range of landscape formats, which is pretty standard for a business card. I initially looked at using the second blue, used within the menus, to highlight the web address, however this created a murky contrast on top of the navy - I therefore stuck to white. The second card is probably the most successful, simply because the reverse is limited. It isn't necessary for this side to be too overly designed, distracting from the information itself. I also feel that it doesn't particularly need a logo repeat as it is clear on the front of the card.
Portrait
I then decided to explore some portrait business cards, which are slightly more unusual. I felt that this would actually helped create consistency within the range, simply because everything else is portrait - the menu, the receipt holder, the bags etc. Similar to the landscape designs, I believe that the final card is the most successful, due to it's simple visual on the reverse, and it's obviously identity on the front. This will be printed on a thick matte stock so that they are sturdy with a slight texture.
