At Harry Ramsden's we're World Famous for our fish'n'chips - not just because we've been serving them for over 75 years, but because the great taste of every portion keeps our customers coming back for more, every time.

With 28 outlets throughout the UK, every restaurant, take away and quick service restaurant adheres to the same high quality standards as set by Harry Ramsden himself in 1928.

Proud of our heritage, we still closely guard the secret recipe of Harry's famous batter, which is freshly mixed every day to ensure the consistency is just right to complement our delicious fish, and make the perfect chip using British potatoes, carefully selected and chipped every day: it's this dedication to continuing the traditions of our founder that helps us to keep serving up the tastiest fish and chips in the world. 

On 20th December 1928, Harry Ramsden began serving from a small striped wooden hut beside a tram stop in Guiseley, West Yorkshire. His reputation soared as takeaway customers flocked to taste his delicious fish in light, crispy batter and golden hand cut chips.

Within three years, Harry opened a sit-down fish and chip ‘palace’ on the same site. Though the oak panelling and grand chandeliers were modelled on those of London’s Ritz Hotel, Harry cooked each piece of fresh cod and haddock exactly as he had always done, even when the restaurant served a world record 10,000 portions during a single day in 1952 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Harry Ramsden's continued to thrive following this success, and over the past 30 years has seen outlets launched internationally in Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Australia and America. Currently we have 30 outlets throughout the UK and Ireland, with plans to expand in the years to come.
