DR ME - flag
As we had two layers, we decided to simply use this as a way of dividing up the work. It was decided that I would produce the type for the flag and Katie would produce the pattern. I created some initial hand written type designs whilst in the workshop. Feedback given by DR.ME was that although they felt the type itself looked beautiful, it wasn't quite bold and striking enough. They suggested a couple of typefaces that we could we look at that might help inspire us. From this, and other type we had seen, I started to create the text by hand and then digitised it.

Katie really liked the design and therefore we decided that we would use it on our flag. I felt that it was a lot bolder and stood out a lot more when comparing it to my initial designs. We didn't want it to look too pristine or perfect, and therefore added certain aspects such as the lower case 'i' and the slanted layout. It needed to be quite clumsy, quite informal and we felt that it achieved this.
