HARRY RAMSDENS - fish illustration

As I want to include illustration within the new visual identity for Harry Ramsden's, I have looked at a number of different fish related images that will help me gain a better understanding of the type of route I want to go down. The illustration can be overly complicated or fussy as I need to make sure that it can be applied to a number of different products.

Rosalie Pryor

Rosie Webb creates beautiful illustrations using watercolours that are vivid and full of life. These sea life images are delicate and intricate, and would easily catch the audience's attention. They are most effective against a stark white background, as this draws all attention towards them. Coloured illustration may over complicate things for the Harry Ramsden's brief, however, this is something I will experiment with.

Charlotte Severey

Charlotte Severey also creates beautiful illustrations using watercolour paints. The images are extremely stunning, experimenting with browns, deep oranges and reds. Although this type of illustration would be extremely effective to use within the visual identity for Harry Ramsden's, they may not work on certain formats or different types of packaging. I will experiment with both painted and linear illustration in order to see which works best.

Jared Muralt

Jared Muralt's illustrations are incredibly detailed and exquisite. As they are so intricate, they work extremely well in black and white, as can be seen on the landing page of his website. I feel that black and white linear illustrations will work best for the type of products I will be producing, or having a limited colour palette, as well as working across both web, digital and existing environments.

Blue Goose

Again, it is evident that a limited colour palette is extremely effective when applied to food based products. Although only blue has been used, visually it is still extremely eye catching, complimenting the intricacy of the illustration as well as the colour of the packaged fish. The type also works well beside the image creating a nice balance between the two.
