HARRY RAMSDENS - things to keep in mind

Before I started designing, I wanted to make sure that I was sticking to the brief. I therefore revisited the brief and highlighted what I felt were the most important aspects to keep in mind.

- celebrating their past and defining their future
- history
- target market
- context
- world famous

From this, I then returned to the website and looked over the 'About Us' section, focusing on the history and heritage of Harry Ramsden's. I have picked up on certain points that will help me when it comes to designing the menu and other supporting products. It will also help me in terms of colour scheme, type and layout.

Things to include within the menu:

great taste of every portion keeps our customers coming back for more, every time
high quality standards
closely guard the secret recipe of Harry's famous batter
British potatoes
dedication to continuing the traditions of our founder

Factors that will inform design decisions:

- proud of our heritage
began serving from a small striped wooden hut
sit-down fish and chip ‘palace’
oak panelling and grand chandeliers were modelled on those of London’s Ritz Hotel
stickler for quality and attention to detail

Harry Ramsden's modelling their interior and design around the London Ritz Hotel really stood out to me. I therefore decided to visit their site to see how they presented themselves visually today. Their traditional but contemporary colour scheme stood out to me, reflecting high quality and standards. Their logo not only displays the heritage and history behind the hotel, but it also appeals to the target audience of a modern society.
